Dutch bulbfields - Makin' Tracks wheelchair accessible tours

We return to Holland, at the time of year to catch the peak of the spring flowers for which it is so famous.

Keukenhof, the stunning showpiece of the Dutch bulb growers, boasts that it is the most photographed place in the world.
That's quite easy to believe when you spend a day in its incredible landscaped gardens.Amsterdam - Makin' Tracks wheelchair accessible tour

Our base will be in Alkmaar, itself having canals reminiscent of the capital, and famed for its traditional cheese market. This small city is surrounded by a historic agricultural landscape, watched over by the ubiquitous windmills, and is situated only 7 miles from the sea, which lies beyond a dune filled nature reserve.

We will also explore the capital, Amsterdam, though you may agree with us that even greater charm lies in the smaller Dutch towns.

As ever, we'll be out & about every day, with a well researched insight far & wide.

Our week will co-incide with the world famous annual Bollenstreek Flower Parade, where hundreds of thousands of flower heads decorate the extravagant floats.

Accommodation & Dining
Keukenhofl - Makin' Tracks wheelchair accessible tours
We’ll be staying in the 4 star Hotel de Palatijn, offering luxurious elegance as a high quality “care hotel”.
Wheelchair users’ needs are therefore foremost in its design & management. Naturally all rooms have roll-in showers, and there is also the possibility to hire more specialist equipment and nursing assistance, should you require.

Breakfast will be at the hotel, and we will dine out at a variety of restaurants chosen by us after careful research, taking into account ambience, menu, and of course accessibility.

Weather
Average highs of 14ºC in May and 23 dry days per month, according to online resources.
