Alghero - Makin' Tracks wheelchair accessible tours

In spite of being the second largest island in the Med, placed right at its heart, Sardinia feels far from everywhere.
There is a sense of mystery involved in a visit to this land, enhanced by the rugged coastline and wild mountains.  Indeed, as you explore deeper you can feel the Sardi weighing you up in the same way they have assessed the myriad of others who have passed through their land – the Greeks, Phoenicians, Romans, Pisans, Genoese, Spanish, Austrians, Savoyans… and now us.  The landscape and climate are the obvious big attractions of Sardinia, and they are accompanied by fascinating & often romantic dwellings, stretching back 7000 years.

We intend to make this a relaxing holiday, first & foremost taking time to enjoy the scenery and simpler charms of island life.  Of course it wouldn’t be a Makin’ Tracks holiday without some historic reference, which we will encounter in the larger towns, and also en route through the wilder places.

The coast itself offers a great variety, from unspoiled beaches & wild headlands to pockets of extravagant luxury.
Although the island is the size of Wales, our hotel is well placed to take advantage of Sardinia’s motorway network, opening up many possible destinations to us, including the capital, Cagliari.

Accommodation & Dining
Doubletree Hotel - Makin' Tracks wheelchair accessible tours

The “DoubleTree by Hilton” in Olbia is modern & offers comfortable accessible accommodation. Although most of the public areas are accessible, the pool does not have a dedicated hoist or ramp.
The historic town centre is a short drive away, for which we will use our accessible minibus.
Breakfast will be at the hotel, while many of our evening meals will be taken in restaurants around the town, so that we can enjoy a variety of cuisine and ambience.

As usual, we will have our extensive collection of accessibility aids, including hoist, shower chairs, & mobility scooter, at no extra charge.

Highs of 27 degrees are expected in September, dropping to 23 in early October, with only 5 days of rain in the month,
according to online resources.

Tour Dates
We are offering 2 tours of 10 nights plus one tour of 7 nights, all commencing in September 2017,
with the last one finishing in early October.

Our packages do not include flights  (Click here to learn why).
However, we are more than happy to assist in identifying the best value and most suitable flights for you, and indeed need to liaise with all clients prior to ticket purchase in order to be sure all the transfers to & from hotel are feasible.

The most practical destination airport is Olbia (OLB).
There are direct flights from many of the UK's smaller regional airports in addition to the larger centres.
You can check availability now with Skyscanner.
